Darshan Gandhi

Darshan is a proud Canadian from Toronto and attended who received an undergraduate degree in pharmaceutical sciences with a specialization in genomics from the University of Ottawa. Darshan is currently a medical student at Ross university school of medicine and aspires to train in internal medicine or general surgery, while contributing to research and education. When not focused on medicine, Darshan enjoys playing pool, watching movies and hanging out with friends and family. In the future, he hopes to explore the world while providing aid and medical care on health mission trips.

Zoe Smith

Zoe is from Detroit and is a third-year medical student with plans to pursue a career in dermatology. She has a strong interest in immunology and infectious disease. Her other interests include entrepreneurship, yoga, singing, and playing guitar.

Mona Ascha, MD

Mona is current plastic surgery resident at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. She is a graduate of Case Western Reserve School of Medicine.

Arjun Basnet

Arjun is an international medical graduate pursuing a medical career in United States. He graduated with honors in 2017. When not focused on medicine, his interests include football, wrestling, movies/series, food, and books.

Hassan Chaudhry, MD

Hassan is from Philadelphia, PA and graduated from Temple University in 2008, majoring in Biological Anthropology. He was awarded an MD from the European Union in 2017. He is wrapping up his licensing exams while pursuing clinical experiences around his interests in patient interaction, preventative care, and mental health. In his spare time, Hassan enjoys reading and playing sports. He is an avid coffee, travel, and trivia enthusiast.

Jeffrey Cross, MD

Jeff graduated from Oakland University, William Beaumont school of Medicine and is currently an orthopedic surgery resident at University of Toledo. In addition to medicine, engineering and teaching are his passions.  In my free time he loves woodworking, gardening, cooking, and bringing people together.

Nimrita Kaur Gill

Nimrita was born and raised in Alabama but moved to India and graduated with a degree in medicine from Government Medical College. In her spare time, she enjoys art, painting, and anything that allows her to be creative.

Sheel Patel, DO, MHA

Sheel graduated from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, Florida campus with the dual degrees of Doctor of Osteopathy and Masters of Health Service Administration in June 2016. She is currently enjoying a general surgery residency at Wayne State University in Detroit and hopes to subspecialize after completing residency. Sheel’s research interests are pediatrics and trauma. Her hobbies include art and painting, bike riding, and traveling.

Mehool Kumar Hh Patel, MBBS

Mehool is from Surat, Gujarat, India, and graduated from Surat Municipal Institute of Medical Education and Research in 2018, where he majored in general medicine and surgery. He is currently working as a research assistant at the department of Neurosurgery, Sion Hospital, Mumbai. He is all set to start his MPH studies at Bloomberg School of Public Health School, where he has been admitted to the class of 2020, and he plans to research ways in which economics is intertwined with public health and figure out policy changes that would make healthcare affordable and available to all. In his spare time, Mehool enjoys solving puzzles, observing flora and fauna, watching news, reading novels, and exploring new medical infrastructure which is popping up in the Surat area.

Tegveer Singh Sandhu, MD

Tegveer was born and grew up in Jalandhar City in the Punjab province of India. He recently graduated from Government Medical College Amritsar, India, and is currently doing research in pediatric sleep medicine at the University of Alberta while he pursues a residency in internal medicine. In his spare time, Tegveer enjoys listening to music, painting, travelling, and watching TV shows.

Harnoor Singh, MBBS

Harnoor is from Punjab, India. He is currently in his 3rd year of residency in the Department Transfusion Medicine at Dayanand Medical College & Hospital. He is very active in research and has completed 12 research projects that were published in national and international journals over the past 10 years. He is currently working on the role of peripheral blood stem cells in oncology and improving the efficacy of platelet and plasma aphaeresis procedures. He loves contributing to the medical literature and has been a member of the editorial team for the book Transfusion Update by the Indian Society of Blood Transfusion & Immunohematology (ISBTI). Harnoor also enjoys sports and is a National Silver Medalist in Fencing and has represented his state in the national tournaments many times. In his spare time, he also enjoys riding horses.  

Álvaro Alvarez Soto

Álvaro was born and raised in the Dominican Republic. He recently earned his medical degree from Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo and is pursuing a career in internal medicine.  He is particularly interested in hematology/oncology and pulmonology. Álvaro is also very interested in the field of medical teaching. In his spare time, he loves going to the beach and plans to visit as many different beaches as possible. He also likes watching movies and eating ice cream.

Cody Stothers

Cody is a fifth-year MD/PhD student at Vanderbilt University Medical School in Nashville. Cody’s research focuses on immunotherapy as a prophylaxis against sepsis and nosocomial infection. He plans to pursue a career as a cardiovascular intensivist and scientist.

Sarah is from a small town in Wisconsin and earned her undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from Yale University and her medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin. She is currently a resident in the Department of Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Sarah’s hobbies include ice hockey, cycling, and cooking.

Mubarak Hassan Yusuf, MD

Mubarak is from Katsina, Nigeria. He recently completed the medical program at Windsor University School of Medicine. He is passionate about medicine, specifically the fields of surgery and infectious disease. He believes medical education can be made less difficult and more interesting if it is concept driven.
